June is JUMPING!!
June is a busy month for us all trying to finish up the school year strong.
The seventh grade just came back from a very successful trip to LBI and Tuckerton. Students had a great time as they learned about our Jersey shore firsthand from bay men, divers, fishermen, and more. We were proud to donate a portion of funds raised at our Pasta Dinner to the Tuckerton Seaport to support their rebuilding efforts as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
Director Paul Hart graciously accepted our check presented by Amanda Reece and Cassidy Pierro. We also gave Mr. Hart one of our CORRECT buckets and explained that we wanted to recognize the people of our shore for their COURAGE and OPTIMISM (our first two core values). We toured the Seaport, learned about the history of life-saving techniques, and made flatties (decoys).
Thursday found us learning about New Jersey's maritime past from LBI's Maritime Museum curator Deb Whitcraft and her husband. In the afternoon we kayaked through the estuary. This was certainly a lesson in teamwork as well.
Our Friday adventures included the Barnegat Light Coast Guard Station, Viking Village (commercial fishing port) and of course... Old Barney (Barnegat Light State Park). It was certainly a worthwhile trip. Our seventh graders came back united and ready to conquer their 8th grade year!

As June continues, so does testing, OCS testing that is. Our lower grades are working hard every morning this week to show all they've learned in both English/Language Arts and Math.
Mare projects are another focus as we finish up our school year. Students both upstairs and down are busy creating interesting projects to share with other classes.
In writing class, 7th graders just back from their LBI trip are writing about what they've learned and will share exciting information through discussions and PowerPoint.
8th graders have been busy preparing for their 8th grade Washington, DC trip. This is a perfect culmination to the year they have spent learning about Civics and how our government works.
