It's RESPONSIBILITY time!!!!
That means RESPONSIBLITY repetitions!
That's right, it's time for push-ups.

Our 2013 CORRECT CAMPAIGN is now focused on our core value of
RESPONSIBILITY.  Students did push-ups to create a "physical" awareness on what it means to be responsible.

First thing Monday morning, Mrs. Bee (representing the PTA) and superhero Kid Courageous gave students and staff "something to think about" with CORRECT COMMENTS on RESPONSIBILITY. They asked….

"Do you get your assignments done on time?"
"Do you help your family with daily chores?"
"Do you maybe watch out for your younger brother or sister?"

And Wednesday was the work-out.... Everyone's favorite- push-ups!
The "Talk It, Walk It, Pass It On" campaign continues with important "exercises" (both of the mind and body) on what RESPONSIBILITY means in our lives.

KID COURAGEOUS reminded us that RESPONSIBILITY means means looking inside yourself, and making RESPONSIBLE choices! In the words of COUSIN CORRECT to KID COURAGEOUS we are reminded that we are all part of the CORRECT CRUSADER team that should always strive to do the "right" thing.
KID COURAGEOUS-
That's right…There might not be an "I" in the word team,

COUSIN CORRECT-
But as you can see… there sure are two, in "RESPONSIBILTY"

KID COURAGEOUS-
One "I" for "I am responsible for myself."
And the other for "I show RESPONSIBILITY to others!"

RESPONSIBLITY activities will be our focus through March 8th.

RESPECT

The students and staff have embraced our "Talk It, Walk It, Pass It On" character education campaign with enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn more about living a CORRECT life.  In addition to all our lessons, buddy activities and work-outs, announcements are being made each week from community members and our CORRECT CRUSADERS to express the importance of CORRECT, not just in OCS- but in their lives in and outside of school.  Here is our latest installment about RESPECT.....
Did you know that there is not one single person in our school that is exactly like you? That’s right, not even if you have a twin brother or sister, there is still no one exactly like you.  Why is that you ask?
Because you have your own special feelings, your own special ideas, and your own special way of doing things.  Everyone here at school is a one-of-a-kind human being.  That makes everyone here special in his or her own way.  It is important for us to respect each other’s differences.
Today and every day, we need to treat each other with RESPECT.  Say kind and helpful things to both those that are our friends and those that are not.  Remember, no one ever made themselves a bigger person by trying to make someone else look smaller.  When it comes to RESPECT, we should all remember….
RESPECT is a lesson that we all should learn
RESPECT must be given, before it’s returned.
Respect is something given for free.
Respect is about us…..   and not just about me.
Respect builds our character and defines who we are
Respect sets the standard and raises the bar.

Living a CORRECT life is important to us all.

Pasta Dinner News:
Tickets should be available this week!
However, donations are desperately needed!  We are in need of marinara and meat sauce, penne pasta, Italian salad dressing, Alfredo sauce, and bread.  Please contact me if you can provide any of these items.

Optimism

February is the perfect month to turn our focus to the CORRECT trait of OPTIMISM.  As we continue our "Talk It, Walk It, Pass It On" campaign- the school is packed full of activities that keep our focus on living and learning the CORRECT way.
With the season's frigid blast, and indoor activities in full swing, it is the time many of us get those winter blues!  Perfect timing to work-out our OPTIMISM muscles.  Our CORRECT Crusaders led by Kid Courageous and Cousin Correct have been guiding us with announcements and activities reminding us that we need COURAGE to make the right choices and OPTIMISM to change challenges into opportunities and be the best we can be!
Fridays are super special days during our CORRECT campaign, they are the days that you can hear the entire school singing our CORRECT song..... We're actually getting pretty good at it!  Our classroom buddies make the day even more special as we learn more about each of our core values.  It is exciting to see the energy and excitement of our younger students working side by side with our upstairs middle schoolers.  Just wait until you see those "bucket" notes!  They're sure to brighten your day.  Stay tuned.... we have lots more to cover... get ready for RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, EMPATHY, CITIZENSHIP, and TRUSTWORTHINESS.
